This is always a tough time of the year for me biking. The mountain biking is still good, but it is getting cool. The colder weather isn’t the biggest issue, as I have tons of good clothing, but the light is the key. I am not what you would call a “morning person” so riding before work doesn’t always happen, and I usually end up walking the pup when I get home. This lets little time for riding. So my solution has been commuting to work, which is about 40 minutes each way. That way, I get a nice relax spin in the morning, and then do my workout. So thats what I have been doing for the past couple of days.
Wednesday had me doing 4×3 minutes of 105-110% of my lactate threshold. Let me tell ya, after riding to work, working all day, commuting 40 minutes, the last thing you really want to think about is 4×3 minutes in zone 5. But, I want to be on the top spot for cross season, so I gritted my teeth and got it done.

Last nights workout was a bit of the same, but for shorter. So, 5×20 seconds at an all out max sprint. Much different than the types of workouts that I am used to with my “endurance” type workouts, as they are usually longer and at a lower heart rate. But again, its soon cross time, so lets rev up that heart rate.
These spikes weren’t that much fun:

You can definately tell that fall is coming quite soon. This morning when I left my house, it was a balmy 42 degrees out and I got to ride into the fog for most of the ride:
And by the looks of it, I will be riding through it again on the way home…
