Big news and big rides

Woa, it has been quite some time.  I guess that can be a good sign.  I have been super busy with all kinds of good things.  Things I am REALLY excited about.

First, let’s talk about the training.  Coach has me doing some really great workouts.  Things that last 2-3 hours and not drilling me into the ground.  Last week, most of my workouts involved a bunch of back country/bush whacking snow shoeing.  In these areas, people tend to have all the trails “super highway’ed” out as soon as it snows, and I would never need to put mine on.  So, since there is 2 feet of snow on the ground, I just picked a direction and walked for 1.5 hours, turned around and came home, all by moon light.  Now that is some good times.

This weekend, the plan was for a 3.5 hour ride on the road.  Well, I mapped a ride out that was to be about 4.5 hours, programmed it into my gps and off I went.  8 hours later I finally rolled into my house, having missed a turn somewhere or something.  All I know, when you are somewhere that you have no idea where you are and your gps says make a left, you make a left.  So 8 hours on the road bike during the first weekend of March, including 2 climbs up and over the notches.  I don’t think it would have happened without a coach.

The other big thing is sponsorship news.  For this upcoming year, I will be part of th GT Dirt Coalition and be spending all of my time on my new trusty GT Carbon Zaskar.  I am really excited about this.  I don’t have 100% of the details, but I should be getting them very shortly, and as soon I hear more, I will pass everything along.  Either way, time to really get on the ball, as I now have a team that I can’t let down.
