Trainer day #2, Run day #1

Posted December 2nd, 2007 by mike

I enjoy Sundays. There isn’t a whole lot going on. With the mid 20 degree temps today, it felt a bit chilly to head out for a few hour bike ride. I don’t really care all that much about football so there isn’t much for me to watch on the TV. Because of that, I felt as if I needed to head out on an adventure. My plan was to take the dog for a run and just see how long she can go. Sure, we have hiked a bunch of miles before but with that she was able to stop and rest for a moment if she wanted. Today would be a different story. Here she is with her running gear:

Take notice to the nice orange vest and a cowbell to keep the moron hunters from thinking she is a deer.  You may laugh but I wouldn’t put it past a lot of hunters out there.  I have been with people who’s motto has been that if it is moving to shot first and ask questions later.  My hopes is that most deer won’t be carrying a cowbell, so hopefully we are safe.

With her I did a little over 2 mile run.  She is funny.  When she doesn’t want to go any more, she just sits there.  Doesn’t budge.  I turn around and say “OK, let’s go home” and she turns and sprints.  I think the cold got to her today.  Either way, here is the data from this morning’s run:

I never said I was a brilliant runner.  After some chores around the house and some stretching, I decided it would be a good thing to keep things moving with a little time on the rollers.  I did a little over 20 minutes.  Nothing too killer at this point.  Sure, I have a bunch of miles under my belt from the tail end of my outdoor season, but I don’t really want to burn myself out yet on the trainer workouts.  I have a LONG time to go on them.  I believe last year it was the middle or end of March before I got some quality outdoor time in.  Stats to follow:
