First day of commuting and I must say it was quite the day to get my feet wet. First, when I woke up there was about an inch of snow on the ground. As morning went on, it didn’t seem to slow down, but instead it snowed harder and harder. So I bundled up for the ride and went out. Not too bad of a ride. Came home for lunch and within 40 feet of my house, my chain broke on the bike. No biggie, I walked home, ate, fixed it and went back to work. Sure the snow was deeper, the roads were barely plowed and it now was sleeting, but whatever…I am a commuter now. So work was over, it was getting dark, so I bundled myself back up, and hit the roads again to come home. Again, about 40 feet from my house, almost the exact same spot, I broke my chain again. I guess thats what happens when you want old parts to work like they are brand new. Later this week I will get a new chain to make sure that doesn’t happen again. Day one, not too bad, day 2 however, might be tougher. Tonight we are on a winter warning and are expected to get 6-8 inches of snow. I hope they are wrong. I want summer, not winter

After my first day of commuting and the hard workout last night on the trainer, I did a nice and slow recovery ride on the trainer. The whole point of the recovery ride is to pedal slowly and easily to clear your legs of any lactic acid that might have built up over the past 2 rides. This is what I did and I got to catch up a bit more on the 2007 Tour de France.
