Quiter

At this point, I think I am abandoning the at home carpentry.  I gave it a shot to build that sub-box, and I must say I have no right to pick up a saw.  I might give it a wack later on, but at this point, the dream is over.  I shall ask for some (and by some I mean A LOT) of help..

Same old day, same old…..

So I left work last night with much on my mind.  I first went for a 7 mile mt. bike ride, and came home to finish up the cutting for the sub box.  My boss loaned me his jig-saw and I cut everything up according to the plans.  I must say, I would not make a very good carpenter.  I didn’t take any pictures of the pieces, mostly because they look excatly like the others, some just have the cornes nipped off.  I plan on starting to assemble things sometime this week.  I must first got to Wal-mart to get some sturdy wood glue and some silicone to make everything air tight.  What a process…

When everything was done, I sat down to play with my new little toy.  I had a couple bucks left on an Amazon gift card….

We all know what that little sucker is….a Rubik’s Cube.  I took the picture when I first got it because I have a feeling it will never look like that agan.  So, I worked at it for about 5 minutes, and it has 2 sides matching…I gave up at that point.  I don’t want to finish it all in one sitting, that would take all the fun out of it..

A new project underway…

ok…so im not a very good carpenter…and I know this.  But every man has a gene in him that thinks he can cut wood and slap it together perfectly.  This is my attempt and story.

It started off with looking through forums on how to put a better stereo in my jeep, without taking up and of the little cargo room I have.  When I stumbled apon this approach, I nearly wet myself.  This is what I will be trying to accomplish:

                                            subs.jpg

I have a feeling mine won’t look like this, but its worth a stab at it….after all the material only cost me 13 bucks…no big waste.  Since I am no good at this, and I will be taking my time, I plan on it taking me 3 or 4 nights, working only an hour or so on it each night.  Here is night one….draw and cut..

All Materials.jpg  Here is all the materials needed..

blueprints.jpg  blueprints,

Pencil.jpgpencil, and plans,

tape.jpg  a tape measure,

square.jpg   a square,

 beer.jpg  and beer.

So off I go, drawing, cusing, drawing and a bit more cusing.  It didnt take me all that long to draw it so I moved to phase 2….cutting!

drawings.jpg  Hi, my name is Simon…and I like to do drawings….chicky monkey..bum looker….

saw.jpg  the cutting materials….the wood, a saw, and more Guiness….

The cuttings have all been done…wasn’t as bad as I thought.  I still need to do a bit more work to some of the pieces, but I will need a jigsaw to do that..and that is another night..

pieces 2.jpg  Finally, cut out pieces…

pieces1.jpg and a couple more…

This wasn’t quite as hard as I thought it was going to be.  But then again, I haven’t tried to assemble it yet.  I think that is where the problems come into play.  But that will be another bat night, on another bat channel.  So stay tuned…
